Today, 23/01/2012, at 14.00 o’clock, attorney Zierhut of the Patientenanwalt AG filed on behalf of a PIP victim the first lawsuit at the Regional Court of Karlsruhe. Among other things they claim damages for pain and suffering as well as future damages in the total amount of € 100,000. The lawsuit is directed against doctors and clinics as well as the TÜV Rheinland and the Brenntag GmbH.

The lawsuit involves the claim for damages due to the implantation of faulty breast implants produced by PIP from France. These implants contain highly harmful ingredients (industrial silicone). Therefore they should not have been used as medical devices and implanted into human bodies. They are likely to cause serious health damage; in particular to suffer cancer and/ or organ damage.
We estimate the lawsuit to be pretty successful, in particular against the doctors. We accuse the doctors of having lacked sufficient informed about risks in almost every case. Mostly they played down the risks and didn’t sufficiently inform about the fact that the implants could rip.
